Advanced Imaging for Dogs and Cats

Advanced imaging can provide detailed information that supports diagnosis and treatment planning. At BVRS, imaging may be used alongside specialist assessment, surgical planning or ongoing care for referred dogs and cats.

Our team works with pet owners and referring veterinarians to explain why imaging has been recommended and how the findings may guide the next steps.

128-Slice CT Imaging

BVRS offers access to 128-slice CT imaging for suitable patients. CT can provide detailed cross-sectional images that may assist with assessment of complex conditions, surgical planning and further investigation.

This level of imaging can be especially helpful when more detail is needed than standard imaging may provide.

Contrast Imaging

Contrast imaging may be recommended in selected cases to provide additional diagnostic information. This can help highlight certain structures, tissues or areas of concern, depending on the patient’s condition and the clinical question being investigated.

Our team will explain when contrast imaging is appropriate and how it fits into the broader diagnostic plan.

Sentinel Lymph Node Mapping

Sentinel lymph node mapping may be used in selected oncological cases to support surgical planning and staging. This can provide important information when planning care for some patients with cancer or masses.

Our advanced imaging service works closely with our Soft Tissue Surgery team to support oncological surgical planning where appropriate.

Access to Veterinary-Specific Radiologists

BVRS has access to veterinary-specific radiology support to assist with interpretation and diagnostic planning. This helps ensure imaging findings are reviewed with specialist veterinary knowledge and considered in the context of the patient’s wider care.

Clear communication with referring vets is an important part of this process, so results and recommendations can support ongoing patient care.

Imaging as Part of Specialist Care

Advanced imaging may be recommended before Specialist Surgery, during diagnostic investigation or as part of treatment planning. Each recommendation is made based on the patient’s needs and the information required to guide care.

BVRS provides imaging support with a focus on clarity, collaboration and personalised care.
